Date: 10th October 2011

Realism

Soaps focus on logical verisimilitude

Dramatic Realism
Psychological Realism
Emotional Realism

Soaps are often viewed as being realistic because of their emphasis on the everyday happenings of life

Realism within soaps appeals to a wide variety of viewers

It allows the audience to associate characters as emotional representatives, and the audience are able to become involved in the issues/ conflicts.

The viewers can relate the situations in soaps to real life and how they tackle their own problems.
