Soaps are often viewed as being realistic because of their emphasis on the everyday happenings of life
Realism within soaps appeals to a wide variety of viewers
It allows the audience to associate characters as emotional representatives, and the audience are able to become involved in the issues/ conflicts.
The viewers can relate the situations in soaps to real life and how they tackle their own problems.
